Mindful Togetherness<\/h2>\n\n

At the LGBTIQ+ Conference, we come together as a community to network and learn from each other. Diverse people with diverse life realities and concerns come together: We are lesbian, bi, gay, queer, trans, cis, non-binary, intersex, and more. Some of us are affected by racism or ableism (hostility towards people with disabilities) or are marginalized by society in other ways. We want to take all these realities seriously \u2013 and that requires all of us. <\/p>\n\n

We, from LOS, Pink Cross, TGNS, InterAction, and Milchjugend, want to create a space with you where everyone can feel welcome and safe, especially those of us who are multiply marginalized. This doesn’t always succeed. In such cases, we want to support you as an affected person. <\/p>\n\n

Throughout the day, there will be contact persons<\/strong> \u2013 you can recognize them by their colorful wristbands. You can also approach any person from the organization at any time. We offer you support and will treat your concerns confidentially if you wish. If you need peace and quiet, a retreat area is available. Please contact the designated contact persons. <\/p>\n\n

With your behavior, you actively shape this space. Reflect on yourself and your privileges. Try to acknowledge and take seriously the experiences of discrimination of your fellow human beings. Even if you mean something ‘well’ or ‘non-discriminatory,’ it can cause great hurt. If you are made aware of a mistake, admit it. Apologize thoughtfully and try to learn from it. The goal of an apology should be to avoid causing further discomfort to the person affected by systematic oppression (for example, first ask if the person has the energy to talk to you about what happened). For this, or if you notice something, you can also seek support from the contact persons. Together, we take responsibility and take the needs of affected persons seriously. <\/p>\n\n

Finally, a few concrete tips:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

  • Introduce yourself with your name and pronouns and take seriously how your fellow human beings wish to be addressed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • In discussions, consider how much space you are taking up.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Manage your own energy responsibly and protect yourself: It is absolutely okay to take a break. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n
